About Aluminum 6262
Aluminum 6262 is a heat treatable wrought alloy that offers good corrosion resistance, formability and machinability, and moderate strength. It is used in applications requiring high strength-to-weight ratios, such as in aerospace and automotive components like wheels, frames, and housings. It is also used in applications that require weldability and stress corrosion resistance, such as in cylinder heads, exhaust manifolds, and pressure vessels. The alloy has excellent anodizing capability for decorative and corrosion protection purposes, as well as for achieving a range of colors. It is also used in areas that require electrical conductivity, such as electrical components, and in applications where non-magnetic behavior is preferred.
